GalleryMost photographers have a need to display their pictures. So do I. Why? Even one taking photographs mostly for ones own pleasure feels like showing the contents of the desk drawer to other people, sometimes somebody even asks what I've been shooting lately. This is my very own forum for my photographs I like. Earlier I joined even some group exhibitions with other amateur photographers, perhaps I will do that some day again. Now this is my only place to display my pictures. As an amateur photographer I take pictures mostly in "special occasions", that is, when travelling and when on holidays, when away from the familiar circles. When travelling in business, I try to find some time to explore the place I am visiting, mostly in evenings, taking photographs and looking around. Most often the first evening is the best. In the first evening you see all the differences, peculiarities and oddities of the culture you are visiting. Already next day you start to blend in. One of the classical photography excersises is to shoot one's own surroundings, to see it from a new perspective, to record something so close it is self explanatory. I guess I have to try that out some day. Pictures of Hervanta, Tampere or something that like... I have exposed quite a lot of film and silicon.
